St Tropez became St Trop in 1950, when the Parisian artists and intellectual, spellbound by the charm of the small harbour came down to St Tropez for the summer. The myth has increased with the arrival of Brigitte Bardot in the 60s, she settled for over 20 years between two villas of the Madrague and Garrigue.  St Tropez became one of the favourite places to stay and relax for the All-Socialite Paris and the International Jet Set. Discover the village and beaches.

Built by the new inhabitants from the end of the XV th century, the tall houses and their facades ocher, yellow or orange, are reflected in the waters of the port, which once housed their basements goods.

Urban oratories are small niches arranged on street corners or above the houses of entries. These modest improvements have a protective role for the house and its inhabitants, or may be votive offerings, materialization to a holy person.

In Saint-Tropez there is an urban oratories quarantine containing a statue of the Virgin Mary, Saint-Tropez, Saint Anthony of Padua, St. Roch or Christ.

Some are dated back to the XVII th century.

The old rampart and the street Argentiers

This old street of the old town ran along the ramparts from the Jarlier Tour to the door of Revelin. Thus, current street facades of Aumale are aligned with the old wall. Many vestiges of the street Argentiers and rampart are still visible.
